PREPARE TO JOIN OUR WEEKLY CLUB RIDES

To join our weekly rides, all riders are required to have a helmet, rear light, spare tube or flat kit and pump/CO2, and the route. Please see our safety and etiquette page for more information on preparing for a group ride. Due to insurance reasons, we cannot allow e-bikes on our weekly rides.

Each ride starts with a short safety talk before we divide into riding pace groups. All rides depart at 6 p.m. sharp. We recommend arriving 15 minutes before a ride to ensure you are ready to roll out on time.

Group 1

  • Pace: average speed of 15+ mph
  • Distance: approximately 20 miles
  • This is a drop ride

Group 2

  • Pace: average speed of 13-14 mph. Riders must be able to maintain a minimum of 13 mph.*
  • Distance: approximately 20 miles
  • This is a no-drop ride. The group will modify pace to allows the slowest rider to stay with the group

Each ride group will have a Lead and a Sweep. The Lead is usually in the front of the pack and understands the route well to lead the group through the ride. Sometimes Leads also lead a pace lining practice for the group. Sweep is the last person in the lineup and makes sure all ride members make it through the ride without getting dropped. All riders are responsible for using safety call signals and are vital to creating a safe environment on our rides.

*How do I know if I’m “fast” enough to join?

Our club hopes to create an environment that empowers all women and nonbinary cyclists to feel confident and safe on their bikes. Minimum ride speeds are posted not with the intention to exclude, but to ensure we have a safe experience for all riders.

We recommend downloading Strava (free) to your phone and recording a ride on similar terrain and distance to our group rides. After completing a ride, you’ll be able to see your average speed. Riders often find they go a little faster in groups, but if you are unable to meet the minimum ride speed, we encourage you to keep riding and join us when you’re ready!

How do I get the route onto my phone, cue sheet, or bike computer?

Our routes are posted using Strava and can be found using the links at the top of this page. Here are some helpful links, but please reach out to us if you have any questions!

Ride Updates & Cancellations

The board will communicate ride cancellations or changes via our member communications: WhatsApp, email and social media. We aim to notify members as early as possible. Rides may be canceled due to lack of available leads & sweeps, constructions or events impacting the route, or weather conditions.

If a ride is cancelled, riders are encouraged to make their own decisions about riding. If riders decide to still show up for a weekly ride that has been cancelled, they are doing so at their own risk and the ride is not a club sanctioned ride.
